Making Money With Blogs
A few posts ago I promised a short course on using Blogger blogs to make money. Specifically we will concentrate on earning affiliate income from blogs. Now I know that Blogger has been outdone by Wordpress, but for a complete newbie the process of making a Wordpress Blog that works can be a bit intimidating.
I recommend anyone start their Blogging at Blogger. The learning curve is easy, plenty of online help, instant feedback on how the site looks, and it is a no brainer way to get approved for an Adsense account. The downside is that Blogger is occasionally down. It is a free service.
1. Go to the ClickBank marketplace and research a niche affiliate product you would like to sell, preferably a non internet marketing product! There are plenty of them. Sign up for Clickbank if you aren’t already an affiliate. Look for a product to promote that pays at least $10 for the affiliate and has some “gravity” and a sales page that looks like a winner. Clickbank vendors are presented to you with the best selling vendors displayed first, try to stick with a vendor on the first page or two.
2. Think of some likely search terms that will apply to your product choice. Then go to this site and use the Overture tools to see if your pick gets enough searches and high enough bids to be lucrative. Look for at least 10,000 searches for the keyword or keyword phrase of your chosen affiliate product. Look for at least five bidders on the term, and make sure the first place bidders are bidding at least .45 to $1.00. When you find a keyword or more likely a keyword phrase that qualifies, and works with your chosen ClickBank product, write down the keyword(s).
3. Sign up for Blogger. Pick a user name that is easy to remember. Try the keyword you saved as the name for your blog. If not available, use hyphens to separate the words. A useful trick is to use just one hyphen in front of your keyword(s).
4. Pick a Blogger template. Any template will do as we are just going to make a test post. So leave all the blog settings as they are. Make a simple test post, like “test” or if you want to a short welcome message.
5. Save the post and publish it.
End of part one. In part two we’ll pick a more suitable template, make a real post, put in some links, and otherwise make our blogger blog look more like a real website.
